Media notes
Very faint but obvious upslurred "wuh-waak" repeated multiple times. Had to rescue the recording which was marred by movement on leaf litter, wind and other birds and I admit it is horrible but we heard it clearly in the field.
Observation details
I have heard Lesser Fish Eagle a few times before and this just didn't sound like one. The call was obviously two-noted and not as shrieky as Lesser Fish Eagle but more nasal and strong. It was upslurred ("Wuh-waak wuh-waak wuh-waak" and not as long as a Lesser Fish Eagle's call either. It called for a while but was quite distant. - RS PS. Bird was IDed straightaway by Thomraj, a local naturalist and he described the bird perfectly when I quizzed him about it later.
