Observation details
Only appeared at 1140, Even though I’ve been here for hours and I strongly suspect that the bird has been here the same set of bushes for hours, silently mocking me. Heard and seen while standing on the bridge at (34.1694068, -118.4741750) the walking bridge over Haskill Creek right before it empties into the Los Angeles River. This is immediately south of the T intersection of Burbank Boulevard and Woodley, and is referred to by some as being “the wooden bridge” despite the fact that this bridge is made of steel (but it does have wood surfacing). This is an immature male American Wood Warbler with a proportionately long black tail tail that has rectangular narrow yellow patches along the base of the tail. The ventral surfaces are mostly gray with some yellow highlights along the flanks. There is no streaking anywhere on this bird. The dorsal surface is mostly dark with a plain face, A dark grayish brownish color contrasts with the coal black tail. Stand on the bridge and look down into the creek on the east side of the fridge in the area immediately close to the east side of the bridge.
