Observation details
Ongoing bird present for many weeks. Rufous Hummingbird with rich rufous sides and belly, rufous in tail and on sides and molting feathers on back turning rufous. Photos were acquired this morning by another birder confirming the identification as a Rufous. Photos attached. The bird has thus far been identified as an immature female. I think the presence of several large gorget spots on both sides of the neck as well as in the central throat combined with the green feathers molting to rufous in the back are more suggestive of an immature male. Of course the experts will have to make the final conclusion on this subject.
