****** State first!!! Spotted by Peggy Eubank and identified by Matt Janson. All dark smoky black gull with white head, red bill, small white trailing edge to wing and tail. Photos. Following foraging pelicans with other gulls including Black-headed Gull. Watched for half an hour and stayed in roughly the same area, moving up/down beach about 150m, wherever pelicans moved. Exact location (34.2387219, -77.7710862).
