Observation details
Continuing. We first noticed it, at roughly 6:50AM, at the top of the very tall magnolia tree across from the organ pavilion - apparently a frequent perch. The early sunlight was unusual, giving all the birds near the tops of trees a strong yellow color. Big crest, long tail (slight notch), orange lower bill. We watched it for about a half hour. It moved to the top of a ratty, ill-looking palm tree about 70' farther up the road near the international cottages, and then to an even lower perch on a shorter (also poor looking) tree. In the more normal light, the breast was gray with some yellow showing toward the low center. The bird called frequently and sometimes seemed to be singing a little as well. When we passed by at 8:30, the bird was still there, near the top of one of the tall trees. My [Sara's] poor photo from cellphone.
