Observation details
***Rare. Flew in from far to the south and landed in oaks along Shirtail Canyon Road just north of Ramus. Presumably Red-breasted x Yellow-bellied and not a perhaps an atypical Red-naped x Red-breasted. Adult male. From RBSA by face pattern much more like YBSA with only light suffusing of red in face and bold black and white lines prominent. Messy back braces and, in particular, lack of defined red area on nape (more diffuse reddish on back of head) strongly suggestion YB more, but much variation and perhaps impossible to be 100% certain. Very poor iPhone Swarovski NL photos.
