Observation details
🍊Spectacular views. First spotted a dark figure through a dense group of pine needles from Sapsucker Woods Rd west of speed limit sign as per usual. Decided to walk on path to see if it was out in the open or at least more visible from the other side, the sun’s side. On our way along the trail, we heard a brief chorus of Chickadees, looked up, and saw the owl fly from above us to a new perch a few meters further in. A beaut. The bird proceeded to fly around the trees between the road and the trail quite a bit, unprompted. Unsure if it was the same individual, we looked towards where we saw the owl from the road and to our delight, it was like finding a diamond with a flashlight. Sitting, rather far back from the trail but in the same spot as from the road, was another individual, basking in the afternoon sunlight. One eye open, the other squinting. Lovely experience. Photos.
