Observation details
Pale 1st/2nd cycle. Eyes appeared dark but distant. Massive pale gull dwarfing the nearby Aechmophorus grebes and RBGUs. Wingtips entirely bright white, paler than rest of upperparts, which were otherwise quite pale with a creamy tone and a bit of brownish smudging in scaps and wing coverts. Bill long, heavy and pale pink with a contrasting dark tip. The bird is on the water in the middle of the lake to the SE of the old Rock Canyon Marina Parking area. Best views from point at end of steep boat ramp. Craptastic digi-scoped photos.
