Observation details
Scoped at a distance and roosting with head tucked in, took this to be a coloured-up Sharp-tailed Sandpiper from back pattern. Getting closer however, it was very secretive, hiding in stubble/straw, but when moving, clearly as small - or smaller - than the Red-capped Plovers. With neat Sharpie appearance but small size, had to consider remote possibility of Little Stint, but eventually yellow legs came into view to confirm LTS. All RNS present in grey plumage - unlike this bird. While feeding, pecked at substrate at slower rate than RNS - deliberate individual jabs, rather than like a sewing machine. Yellowish base to lower mandible subsequently noted in photos.
