Media notes
Video shows 8 of the Snowy Plovers, a partial sample of the flock we saw along with with many least sandpipers.
Observation details
Photos of some birds. Initially we had two distant birds to the northeast. Walking west behind the freshwater cattail point and back toward the shore we found nine pale plovers with broken neck bands, grayish legs. While photographing and observing these birds more joined them. We got an exact high count of 22 at this point. A couple rounded the point leaving 19 birds, exact count x3. 22 is a conservative count as I believe there were actually 24 if one includes the first two distant birds we found. The experience of 22 birds foraging and bathing at sunset in close proximity was amazing, made better because my elderly parents joined us for the journey. Photos and video tba.
