Media notes
Singing after playback from a low limb in a dead tree in arid chaco at Chancani Reserve. The pigeon gives song, a growl, and a "hoop" (at the end). Background: Golden-billed Saltator song in distance, Tataupa Tinamou. Recorded using a Fostex FR-2LE with a Sennheiser ME67 directional mic with an Auray shaggy windscreen.
Observation details
They were singing and displaying, and we kept fairly careful estimates of how many we were hearing/seeing throughout the 30 kms of roads we birded. I've reduced the number by 5 in case of some overlap, but we were conscious of potential overlap at the time and used our best judgment; so the number may well have been 20.
