Media notes

Spontaneous songs of a bird--probably a male--in the well developed chaco of Chancani Reserve. Background includes Rufous-browed Peppershrike, call notes of Brown-crested Flycatcher, & Brushland Tinamou. Recorded using a Fostex FR-2LE with a Sennheiser ME67 directional mic with an Auray shaggy windscreen.

Observation details

7 were seen and they were heard another 15 times; they were calling a lot, and we kept fairly careful track of how many we were hearing (in addition to those seen). We sampled spots throughout the park, birding along all the roads. It's possible we counted a few birds heard that were truly the same individuals that had moved some distance and called again; so I've reduced the total by 5.

Additional species

  • Rufous-browed Peppershrike Cyclarhis gujanensis
  • Brown-crested Flycatcher Myiarchus tyrannulus
  • Brushland Tinamou Nothoprocta cinerascens
