Media notes
A pair of Vanellus chilensis cayanennensis are giving alarm calls—possibly near a nest site, given their intensity—in the marshy, short-grass pampa between 2000 and 2100m on the Pampa de Achala within Parque Nacional Quebrada del Condorito. Recorded using a Fostex FR-2LE with a Sennheiser ME67 directional mic with an Auray shaggy windscreen.
Observation details
Including one pair that was very aggressive toward us--vocally, dive-bombing us, and doing a distraction display; so probably nesting nearby
