Media notes
Male in flight display rises up, maybe 15 feet in elevation gain, making mechanical whooping noise with his wings, circles, and comes back down to same perch, in this case a fence post (sometimes he uses a different perch; he had several favorites). The trilled wing fluttering sound is made on his flight upward; the "whoop" or “crack” is when he closes his wings before the dive back down. Grass Wren is singing in the marsh in background. Recorded using a Fostex FR-2LE with a Sennheiser ME67 directional mic with an Auray shaggy windscreen.
