Observation details
First found by Kristen Mazzarella and me on January 1st Sarasota CBC; small finch with bright yellow underparts (throat to vent), gray crown and nape, yellow on head interrupted by dark lore and auriculars give the face a distinctive patterned appearance; bird was up in an Australian Pine flocking with House Finches, Pine Warblers, and a Yellow-rumped Warbler; likely escapee- native to Africa but an established introduction in Hawaii (where Cathy and I saw them frequently on a November 2021 trip) [Recording is from 1Jan2022... undoubtedly the same bird]
