Observation details
There was a tree tobacco plant just north of where Haskell Creek goes into L.A. River, and it drew lots of hummers...including Black-chins when they were here (spring/summer)...plant is long gone (thanks to fires and Corps of Engineers), but I have some pix from those days..Black-chin has black-appearing head (with purple band at bottom in right light), straight-cut head/body line rather than curved one of Anna's, white spot behind but not in front of eye (Anna's has both)...notched tail shorter than Anna's...more similar to Ruby-throated, but we don't get those...see attached photo...
