Observation details
I started my walk at the Akron U. field station with the bird feeders. I kept hearing Black-capped Chickadees making their alarm call, which made me wonder if a Cooper's hawk or other predator was nearby. After awhile, I noticed a silhouette of a bird with a "barb" on its beak. It was the Northern Shrike! The Shrike was perched on a tree between the parking lot and the main plowed trail. Then it flew to a high pine tree, then I lost sight of it.
