Observation details
1.5 miles east of Hwy 87 on Stewart Lane. Saw the bird at about 3:45 for about 10 minutes. Bird eventually flew west down the road. We are sure it is a Rosy-finch, believe it to be a Gray-crowned Rosy-finch. Saw a forked tail, yellow cone like bill, black chin, black on forehead, gray face at eyeline and around head. Brown color on chest. Wings in light were light, didn't get rosy out of it. The bird appeared to be bigger than a House Finch. Bird was very approachable, allowed me to walk around it and get light better for many photos. The bird eventually flew into the ditch on the road and then flew west down the road in a undulating flight, not herky jerky up and down, but long smooth sinusoidal type of flight. Have to admit I first thought it was a House finch.... Luanne said I don't think so. As usual she was right.
