Media notes
Platform nest from the direction suspected osprey seen flying from. No birds. 36.092100, -78.804900
Observation details
Flew overhead from the direction of a power line cut where there was a large nest on a transmission tower. No others were observed in the area and no activity was observed in the nest. *edited after upload for further clarification. Characteristics observed include brown and white underside of wings and tail and what looked like a black eyestripe. Lighting conditions were not great due to overcast skies therefore could not tell beak color. Did not observe eye color. Very light drizzle at the time of the sighting. Flight pattern seemed more osprey-like than eagle-like due to arched wings. No vocalization heard. Flew out of sight towards the Northern edge of Falls Lake. Did not observe through binoculars due to seeing it fly just as I rounded the corner.
