Observation details
We observed three groups of Meadowlarks: one group of 5 birds along Cleveland Crossing Road and two groups (one group of 20 birds and one group of 5 birds) along Yale Street. All were very wary and did not allow close approach or good photo opportunities and no calls were heard. Only two birds could be photographed to check diagnostic features. This bird clearly showed a white malar and a strong contrasting head pattern confirming it as Eastern Meadowlark. The other birds in this group are recorded here as Western/Eastern Meadowlark as the other bird that we photographed in the next group along Yale Street was a Western Meadowlark (yellow malar).
