Observation details
I watched one foraging for around 10 minutes. Several times it came right up to within several feet of me. It was well up on the beach, both on sand and a bit of a rocky area. Twice it found a beached Atlantic Surf Clam shell, and ate the scraps that (presumably) the gulls left behind. I also saw it find a smaller piece of food, and when it shook its head bits of the food flew about a foot, but it saw where the tidbits landed and immediately scurried to grab them.
