Observation details
On 10th a pair of birds sitting on a sandbar in the wetland. Caused a bit of a stir. They looked like gulls - Bonapartes type - but didn't match any gulls. The German-sounding American couple and their guide were working on them. I took another look and thought maybe Gull-billed but didn't say anything. That is the conclusion they came to as well. Days later I wondered about whiskered tern - leg colour would tell but our pictures a bit far - seem like black legs, which is Gull-billed. Also Whiskered looks like a tern at rest while Gull-billed has that gull look. Not a common bird in this part of the world apparently.
