Media notes
Spontaneous song of a Least Bittern (of the S. American vocal type) from the marsh edge opposite Cabin 3. Background includes: song of Sayaca Tanager, Smooth-billed Ani, Rufous Cacholote, Great Kiskadee, what I think are calls of Unicolored Blackbird, Black-capped Donacobius, lots of frogs, and howler monkeys. Recorded using a Fostex FR-2LE with a Sennheiser ME62 & Telinga Universal 22" parabola. Probably a male in courtship, but not known for sure.
Observation details
Calling from the marsh behind Cabin 3, where I recorded its vocalizations and saw it fly a short distance from one site to another
