Observation details
1 adult white form snoozing on ice at edge of water among hundreds of Canada Geese in marina. Rarity continuing in the area since at least 4 January when first reported photograph was taken (although first sighting with ID was the next day). Actually here today and not a Snow Goose like yesterday”s report. As I arrived I was told about Ross’s Goose in marina by a birder leaving, and it remained there throughout my stay until I was about to leave the park, when a couple of photographers whom I had told about it walked out onto a dock prompting all geese to vacate the ice and walk into the water, where they remained when I left. Photos showing tiny pink bill with lavender base and lacking black grin patch of Snow Goose, entire plumage whiter than the snow-covered ice except black tips of folded wings, pink long legs & feet, much smaller-bodied than Canada Geese.
