Observation details
I managed to get two photos as the bird flew away. After much consultation with many bird guides we concluded a Stripped Crake. From the photos we eliminated Corn Crake as this bird had more white stripes than black. I didn’t get a photo of it when it landed as there were reeds causing chaos with the focus. From side angle it definitely looked more like Stripped than Corn. The tail was rufous/orange and plain. Legs also greenish in colour. Pan the bird was found in was deep in conservancy with no nearby rivers. Pan is about 100 m x 20 m and has good rushes that give birds lots of cover. Reason it flew was due to it be flushed as I walked around pan.
