Observation details
Mega! Two drakes and four redheads (two adult females; two first-winters) ranging widely around the pond while foraging, often 'scuba diving'. An interesting record, especially in light of the four over the Lammas Lands yesterday. In theory this type of waterbody should appeal to Goosander so the dearth of records down the years is odd. A very nice tick for my old Thorncombe Street patch, this being only the third record for the area and second for SMP (I missed a redhead found by SJ here last January). Also the 17th species of wildfowl recorded here!
