Observation details
Lack of prominent white nape, streaking on breast also bordered by brown/rufous unlike malaysian hawk cuckoo. Wing projection long compared to tail. Also has darkish chin compared to thin/no dark chin of Malaysian Hawk Cuckoo. Possibly an immature (dark black streaking still present and not completely rufous) based on a similar photo from Singapore. Was foraging on the floor and catching catterpillars. It would eviscerate the caterpillar before cleaning its bill on a brach perch by rubbing its bill against the bark.
