Observation details
Continuing female, small hummingbird with rusty sides and tail. A orange-red central spot could be seen at times, as well as some green on the head and shoulder, light breast. ID confirmed and eliminating Allen’s by others who had a spread tail photo. When I arrived others there said it had not been seen for about 30 minutes. I first saw it for just 3 seconds at about 11:20 but it disappeared, occasionally we would hear it vocalize and then it would dart around from tree to tree then disappear for another 15-30 minutes or so. Finally we heard it and found it perched in one spot for about 8 minutes (time from photos) at about 12:29 pm in a high tree behind the office building. We never saw it feeding in the time I was there. I only heard it or saw it high in the trees, or flying between trees. Photos
