Observation details
This immature shrike took advantage of the injured chickadee and took it down. We missed the moment, but watched the shrike just sit on the chickadee for perhaps 10 minutes before it lifted its prey and moved to the back of the bushes and slipped from our view. The shrike must have flown and carried away the chickadee in line with the chokecherry bushes, so that we didn't see its departure. In one of the photos one can see the sharp beak tip. Great tool.
