Observation details
In casuarinas along walking track that ascends the east flank of Mt Taylor, accessed from Parkhill St, Pearce. First heard and seen in flight about half-way up the mountain: a grating mewing call. Later seen feeding noisily near base of the walking track, allowing a close approach. Compact but still large black cockatoos, with oddly oily-black plumage as seen in the sun. Red panels in tail visible when flying away. One with grey-speckled head, other with yellow-speckled head. Thanks to Chris C for directions, and to Ben R for record image.
