Observation details
This gull was much larger than lesser black-backed gull present and did not have yellow legs. I initally thought great black-backed gull but after much consideration I thought slaty-backed gull was a possibility. It was slightly larger than some of the herring gulls but not as large as I would expect for a great black-backed. The bill did not seem as bulbous as a GBB would be. The eye pale with smudging on the head and neck. The white crescent near the wingtips when perched seemed quite wide, appeared wide enough for slaty-backed. The legs were pink. Also there was a confirmed report of a slaty-backed gull at Johnson Creek yesterday which is only 20 miles south. I feel my photos of this bird match the photos of the Johnson Creek slaty-back. If this bird does not qualify as slaty-backed I assume it is a great black-backed. If so please notify me and I will change the report. Photos will be attached.
