Observation details
Heard the bird calling in the Himalayan blackberries. It came up out of the brambles and called to us after a playback. Although we all looked closely at it, we could not come to an agreement as to whether it was a white-striped or tan-striped. That is because the crown stripes were black at the front and brown toward the back of the bird's head. The supercilium was very white on the anterior half but graded to a pale tan on the posterior half. There was lateral throat stripe on the very white throat. Thus, the bird tended to have more of the features of a White-striped.
