Observation details
Clear looks at a single bird. Both Annie and myself got clear looks. Bird was on the trail at first where its huge size, long tail, and decurved bill were all clear. Although we had a camera, the bird immediately retreated to the shrubs and we failed to get a photo. With that said, we followed the bird to eliminate the possibility of other species, and, as the silhouette suggested, it was indeed a BRTH. We got clear looks at the bright yellowish iris, warm (almost creamy) "base" color of the breast and extensive spotting even into the flanks. Bird was not vocalizing at all but allowed us to approach close (5-10 m) before it would loudly run through the leaf litter to perch on other low vegetation. Southeast of the main parking area - not far.
