Observation details
Displaying male grouse on a sage-grouse lek approximately the size of a sage grouse hen. Black belly and primaries and several long pointed tail feathers resembled sage-grouse. Lack of white collar/air sac, facial pattern, and short pinnae feathers erected while displaying were more like sharp-tailed grouse. Display was a mix of both species: it attempted to inflate air sac and rotate in circles, and also ran in a flattened posture, stopping to stamp the ground like the display of sharp-tailed grouse.
