What sounds like white noise in the background is actually the flapping of the turkeys' wings as they flew from the meadow into the pine forests to roost for the night.
Observation details
Tally by 10's. Everywhere in flocks of 5-80 along the road, oftentimes accompanied by herds of Mule Deer. At dusk, I pulled off at a random spot and watched as ~70 birds flew from a meadow into the pine forest to roost (recording tba). I had not seen this flock earlier in the evening, and there were certainly others that I missed elsewhere along the road while driving.
