Observation details
Continuing bird first seen by Jane. Adult female chocolate sea duck with pronounced sloping bill, white patch on cheek and vertical side of bill, dark cap; swimming with Coots, Gadwalls, Wigeons, and Redheads near private piers on Hudson Bend shoreline. Seen from rocky spit along same shoreline and then out in the canoe. Flew as powerboat approached. Uniformly chocolate upper wing, no white wing patch on secondaries, thus ruling out White-winged Scoter. Photo to follow.
