Observation details
I misidentified a Grasshopper Sparrow as a LeConte's Sparrow earlier, reported on 22 mile road in my pothole checklist. As we drove on 22 mile, hearing the quick buzzy song from the sparrow on the side of the road made me believe it was a LeConte's for sure. Without thinking I automatically eliminated the chance of GHSP because they don't usually come up this far that often. It was bouncing around on the wires and had the same behavior as LCSP and was making the similar buzzy sound right in front of me. I didn't take a great look at the photos when I was out there but as I've reviewed them on my laptop at home the bird is clearly a Grasshopper Sparrow. Salmon colored beak, single yellow patch above each eye, light beige turning into white chest. No reddish markings on side of face like LCSP. Will attach photos. Same location and date for GHSP.
