Observation details
Small raft of sea duck in the middle of Occoquan Bay. All black or dark bodies, steeply sloped forehead, thick bill, grey cheeks similar in appearance to female RUDU. Appears to be a group of females with perhaps one juvenile male. Dark bodies should rule out most other dabbling or bay duck. Larger than nearby AMCO and lacking malar stripe on cheek combined with steep forehead and absence of peak as well as no cocked tail should rule out RUDU.
