Observation details
In southwest cell. Extensive notes taken. "Bill is short -- close to distance from back of nape to base of bill. Bill is all black. Does not look needle-like. Black eye-patch, white forehead, black cap extending as band down the nape. Back looks dark, but there are gull-gray feathers mixed in. Reddish wash to throat. Feeds by picking, but also be a tipping action. Relatively stocky appearance, thick -necked. Found by Eve Freeberg on Oct 7. For sure present also on the 8th and 17th. Then there was a gap until one seen Oct 18-30. With the gap of more than 10 days, were two different phalaropes involved?
