Observation details
First heard before seeing. I heard the two part "vimp" call of a winter wren in some dense willows/vegetation along a small stream that emptied into Vern's Pond. The call was much more song sparrow like then the "jit" call of the Pacific Wren. The bird called continuously for ~10 minutes while staying deep in the veg. It finally came into view showing a small dark wren with stubby and cocked tail, whitish throat and supercillium, and short wings. The bird was much paler than the Pacific Wrens I have seen with the throat/supercillium contrasting with the overall brown color of the bird. I never managed to get a picture but got some decent audio from phone.
