Media notes
In this video the Shikra's behaviour of repeated forceful exhalation through mouth after bath can be clearly seen.Though after moving from bird bath to perch shikra is not facing the camera, the behaviour can be clearly seen.
Observation details
This male shikra was in bird bath when I looked in that direction and had his body fully wet.I had been reporting about repeated forceful exhalation of shikras through mouth after they have fully wet their bodies and during drying their bodies.I have also posted few videos of this behaviour. It is important to note that shikras never exhibit this behaviour if they do not wet their body.On several occassions shikras simply sit on the perch or the edges of bird baths without taking bath( for long periods upto one hour)but never exhibit this behaviour. Now also it was exhibiting this behaviour of exhalation through mouth after wetting the body.
