Observation details
Continuing hybrid male (or possible backcross with Northern Cardinal). Slightly different body structure than NOCA (a little slimmer and longer) plus very tall crest and more gray-washed plumage (not just gray on the center of the back like Texas NOCA). The bill shape was stubbier and slightly more orange in color than a NOCA. Seen in direct comparison to male NOCA and clearly ‘different’. Photos.
