Observation details
*rare; continuing male on 3rd Ave between Main & State; first seen by the Lingles on 6 Nov. It spent most of its time on mountain ash at the Lingle's house and directly across the street feeding below pear trees but I also saw it on mountain ash on 5th Ave. At times it was silent, at other times it was very vocal, and sometimes it would only infrequently call. In the afternoon I could not relocate the bird, but I wouldn't necessarily draw any conclusions from this fact. The sole finch representative for the day. Evening Grosbeak is probably just a touch below annual for the State of Alaska, with perhaps only a few records outside of Southeast. I would guess Ketchikan has the most records. This is the first record for Skagway all-time.
