Observation details
(Notes on the plumage were recorded on the phone and later entered in the list).. We went to check another location (scouted by the local guides) to try our luck with seeing Naga Wren-Babbler. We reached the wren-babbler spot (known by our guide Viko) and as soon as the call was played and even before the entire call got over we got a response very closeby. JP saw a small bird flew in from the left side of the shrubs to a boulder on the right and vanish in the vegetation growing all over the boulder. When we played back the 2nd time the bird came on top of the boulder but still within the vegetation and kept hopping and calling. We were kneeling on the ground and the boulder was approximately 3-4 ft in height. Greyish face, light brown nape merging into a darker shade of brown on the back and wings. The tail was also brown with tips (seen by JP). Red-eye and dark lores gave it a mask-like appearance. Pale or creamish throat and underbelly with rufous on the breast. We had a good view for at least 5 minutes. Unfortunately, none of us had any cameras. This boulder was 3 to 4 ft in height and is completely covered with moist vegetation- mainly with epiphytes (moss, ferns of various kinds). The larger habitat where we hiked during this list is an open area/ shrubland surrounded by groves of moist evergreen trees and lianas.
