Observation details
*rare; back where BG found it this morning, along the protected, sunlit median along the n edge of the eastbound parkway, roughly even with the (invisible from there) Short Beach gazebo. Shortly before we left it areound 5:20, it moved a short distance north to the northern edge of the westbound parkway. The bird's ongoing presence here raises the question whether several mid-day detections at widely spaced sites (the turn-around, then the entranceway to the Boat Basin, then the coast guard hedge, then north of the fisherman's inlet road) might refer to a second individual. Slightly smaller and much paler on face and underparts than GCFL; folded wing showed strong contrast between rusty pp panel and creamy ss panel; underside of r6 with black extending across tip of inner web. Perching low along sunlit edges, sallying and dropping to ground for prey. Barfed up some seeds/exoskeleton parts at one point.
