Observation details
I went into the flooded weed (beggarticks, etc) area east of the pond and headed north trying to get a better look at the few ducks I saw at the north end of the pond. As I traversed the mess of flooded weeds I flushed this sandpiper. Not another single sandpiper today, not even a single killdeer here, just this one. Looked sharp as it squeeked and flew past me. I thought it was a phalarope at first but I fired off some pics and they show that it was a very late semipalmated sandpiper! The sandpiper landed in the flooded weeds across the way and never re-appeared. First hard frost is forecasted tonight and I hope it will be okay. Pic will be attached for reference.
