Observation details
Flying; landing on ground eating ash. Tree Martins were nesting in tree hollows at the Stirling Range Retreat, adjacent to the Stirling Range national Park. Several adult birds were pecking through wood ash spread after the staff burnt a pile of dead wood. Perhaps the Tree Martins were obtaining minerals from the ash bed?
