Nazca Boobies, trench east of the San Juan Seamount, CA - 8 Sep 2021
Observation details
Two adults eventually flying together and interacting with one another, including some aggressive interactions. The new bird for the day had a twisted central rectrice while the other was the one from the previous leg with the disheveled feathers on the right wing. They made several close passes to the boat before eventually flying off together. Large white boobies with brownish-black primaries and secondaries, and primary and secondary coverts. Tails were dark with white central rectrices. The bills were orangish and there was black skin on the face surrounding pale golden-colored eyes.
