NOTES: BNA: Possibly the "Wok Call" is heard (6-8 high-pitched "cuks" with a terminal "cuk" of lower pitch). CZ 08/03/2004. [Actually, I suspect this recording begins with a series of "Wuk" Calls (following BNA), said to be given by a bird as it flew in. This series is then followed by two "songs" which are described on p. 420 of Short [1982. Woodpeckers of the World. Delaware Mus. Nat. Hist. 4:1-676] as fast Wuk Series Calls. The first song, by a bird in the background (0:40), is answered by the closer bird (0:52). Quality unchanged (2) - CAM - 6 May 2005]. Other Behaviors: Advertise. Habitat: Forest, Deciduous Forest, Creek, Edge.
