Nazca Booby, San Juan Seamount, CA - 8 Sep 2021
Observation details
Adult or near-adult that flew in and circled the boat numerous times. This was the first of several Nazcas that we found on or around the San Juan. Photos will show that every successive bird that came in was different. This bird had brownish spots across its lower back. Large white booby with brownish-black primaries and secondaries, and primary and secondary coverts. Tail was dark with white central rectrices. The bill was orangish and there was black skin on the face surrounding pale golden-colored eyes.
